About mE – A dementia caregiver’s journey

How I became a caregiver. Hi! I’m Yaz, a Chilean born girl raised in Orange County, CA. A few years ago, my mother was diagnosed with dementia – Alzheimer’s. As her daughter, it was logical for me to become her primary caregiver.

I will share with you my journey of how I care for her. Some of what the day to day looks like. Mom’s meals and things that have helped us tremendously over the years.

I do love to highlight the great days of caregiving but I don’t shy away from the bad and even the ugly days. It can be a rollercoaster of emotions.

I also keep myself healthy so that I can be her caregiver for as long as possible. I go outdoors as much as possible and love to share some of those adventures. I have also started doing strength training to keep myself strong.
